Helen, the Crazy Cat Lady

This blog will offer a wee tidbit of my writing, and a link to where it may be obtained, as well as news and maybe a few little fun bits every here and there.

Professor Kenney Mencher has begun a new flash fiction contest. I entered last year and received a lovely piece of original art for a submission, as well as a second piece for several honorable mentions.

This new contest is a little different.  The Best is Yet to Come is the title of the picture on which I based my story.

My article on the Murfreesboro antique show posted today on Urban Arts & Antiques

Then, come September, I'm covering the Alpha Theta charity antique show in Bowling Green, KY.

I Love Cats magazine picked up my story 'Christmas Fudge' today, about adventures in being a cat foster mother.

Urban Arts and Antiques article on the Murfreesboro Show has been filed, along with a dozen or so pictures. It was a good show, with lots of fun stuff. And the place was filthy with men! There were football players fresh off the field in various stages of undress littering the hallways. All in all, a good day.

I spent the day covering the 44th annual antique show at MTSU in Murfreesboro. Well, that took about 3 hours. The rest of the day was spent getting hopelessly lost and driving around Rutherford County trying to figure out how to get to Nashville. After two hours of wrong turns, I realized, you can't get there from here.

Urban Arts & Antiques wasted no time in getting my article on the opening of Antique Archaeology.

Saturday, I'm covering the 44th Annual Antique Show in Murfreesboro, TN. It is on the grounds of Middle Tennessee State  University (MTSU) so it will be indoors. Heaven bless air conditioning in July in the South.

Watch Urban Arts & Antiques for the new article and pictures.

Last night, I received an email from Honest Lies Magazine. My story, Affectionating, has been accepted for Volume #3, with the theme Justifiable Hypocrisy.

On a sadder note, I Love Cats Magazine has gone from publishing 6 times a year to 4 issues a year. I still have an article in every issue, but I will miss those two issues a year.

Smashwords is having a sale!

From now until July 31, House that Jack Built and Neutral Zone will be 25% off, only $2.24 per copy.

At that price, you can get them for your friends for their holiday gifts. What better to give Granny Creeps or Aunt Sissy for Christmas than a book with lots of blood, gore and miscellaneous misdeeds.

I had the best morning. I spent it at Antique Archaeology in Nashville. They just opened their new shop on Clinton Street, and it rocked out! You don't have to buy anything to go there. Just go.

More news:

Romantic Shorts has picked up The Wizard, and it will be available in August's issue.

And on Independence Day, I get to interview one of the managers of Mike Wolfe's Antique Archeology store at their new Nashville location. Watch for it in a future edition of Urban Arts & Antiques

News alert:

Neutral Zone is now available as an eBook for the price of $2.99. A mere bagatelle.

The House That Jack Built is also an eBook, and available for the same bagatelle.  The book is awaiting the cover art, but the inside is still just as good, even without the picture.

If you're curious, you can read a few chapters of the books, along with some others, at Wattpad.

One of the books at Wattpad is Adventures of the Crazy Cat Lady. While it is awaiting the artwork, it will remain a free read. Once my artist extraordinaire sends me the rest of the pictures, it will go off to the publisher. So act fast.
